Study on Job Training Improvement Measures for Care Givers

Abstract
This study is intended to explore the measures for job training improvement for care givers by analyzing the necessity and areas of job training for care givers, and their basic perceptions of difficulties. The research findings can be summarized as follows. First, lots of care givers were engaging in irregular work, including hourly and contract work (full-time/ part-time). Second, they were dealing with extra duties at significantly low wages with no proper extra pay. Third, they strongly felt that job training is essential for the following reasons£ºThe biggest reason was boosting their service quality, followed by improving their capabilities and acquiring professional knowledge. Fourth, as for their perceptions of key areas in need of job training, the following received lots of responses£ºfirst aid, safety management, prevention of diseases of care givers, management of Alzheimer`s disease and infection of patients, professional ethics, and self-development. In addition, care givers with least two years of experience had a higher demand for education in Alzheimer`s disease, stroke, diabetes, and Parkinson`s disease. Fifth, the biggest obstacle to receiving training was the inadequate schedule including period and times. Sixth, they responded job training was contributing to their actual work a great deal. In addition, the majority of them agreed with legislation in job training and consideration for higher status and compensation for them.
